Most successful companies of today include regular employee trainings as part of their corporate agenda to improve overall business operations. Having to deal with an ever-changing economic scenario necessitates the need for upgrades in both knowledge and skills of the employees, since many of the common practices of many business will either yield low results in an unstable economy, or provide a result that is quite far from acceptable. Industry experts agree that a workforce with a level of competence and a good degree of diligence is key to operating a successful business today, and such a workforce is achieved mainly by equipping them with the appropriate knowledge and skills needed to successfully carry out the goals set for them, namely through training. While most companies may have different opinions which type of training works best in a given scenario, the top companies mostly have one thing in common: they utilize a training that is comprehensive in scope, is able to reach out and accommodate the various learning styles and curves of the participants, in this case the work force, and will have progress that is measurable, for purposes of comparative data. This data is also used to evaluate the level of human interaction needed in a specific project, defining what aspects will be suffice for automation, and which ones will require the critical thinking of a person. This being said, trainings need to be specifically prepared to be able to address the needs of the project, preparing the work force to be able to handle it efficiently, if possible, expertly. To this end, many of the leading companies look to e-learning solutions as an aid for the training department of their respective companies in keeping the work force competent, experts in what they do, and diligent in tracking their personal output and see the project to a favorable result.

One of the more common barricades that trainers come across when doing their evaluation and training exercise for the work force is a marked difference in distinct learning styles. Where one particular person can excel in a learning aspect, another person may have a particularly difficult time in learning it, and yet excel in another area. This is because no two people are ever the same in their learning curves, hence, any learning technique that needs to be taken by a group of people, who may or may not include people with different learning curves, must have allowances for these differences. The problem with this is the fact that this allowance may result in a lag in the training, making it last longer than it should, and the longer the work force stays in training, the longer they stay away from actual work, and this may affect overall output.

e-Learning tools are particularly useful at this point because of the fact that it can target specific weaknesses of the learner and allow them to learn it without having to stall the entire learning program, thus allowing the training group to finish as scheduled, and implement what they learned immediately after the training, lessening the much-dreaded downtime, and allowing the company to see a clear cut return on investment when the work force with the upgraded skill sets produce a significant amount of output that is superior to the output prior to having the e-learning solutions as a training tool.
