The city boasts of a many attractions. For instance, there is convention center on the west of the beach and southeast of downtown. The city does not own any professional sports team but has been closely associated with sports activities. It is home of to the Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop, a large indoor & outdoor flea market and the site of the world’s largest drive-in movie theater, with 13 screens. It is also home to the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex. This complex is located at the international swimming hall of fame.

Of course, there are numerous attractions in the city and Fort Lauderdale transportation makes it accessible with its fine services. Local bus transportation in the city is provided by Broward County Transit (BCT). It connects the city with other prominent areas viz. Palm Tran in Palm Beach County, and Metrobus in Miami-Dade County. Three major interstate highways (I-75, I-95, I-595) and U.S. Highways like U.S. 1, U.S. 27 & U.S. 441 serve Broward County. There are four railroads for Fort Lauderdale. There are exclusive lines for freight like, Florida East Coast Railroad and CSX Transportation. Florida’s deepest port (Port Everglades), integral petroleum receiving point and nation’s third busiest cruise port is also situated here.

City’s main airport and the fastest growing airport of the country is Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. It is located at Dania Beach which is eight km far from the nearest beaches and five km far from the southwest of the centre of Fort Lauderdale. Its proximity with the cruise line terminals at port Everglades makes it more special. There are four terminals and a rental car centre at the airport. There is estimation that more than 5400 cars are available at the rental car centre.

Terminals one, two and three are for domestic flights and terminal four is devoted to international flight. If you have arrived at terminal one then just follow the signs to the concourse B pedestrian bridge. There is shuttle bus service on the baggage claim level. Apart from shuttle bus services, 24 hours yellow cab taxis are also available from the transportation podium located outside the baggage area.
