The votes are divided. Some adults in the United States feel that Mexican drug wars and violence are a direct cause of their own doings. Some feel that the US too is to be blamed for the drug wars. In Felipe Calderon’s reign there has been a significant improvement, as he undertook this fight with a lot of motivation. He sent military troop’s right to the heart of the drug affected areas. President Barack Obama recognized Mexico’s efforts in his recent visit. He willingly also took some responsibility and blame saying that 90% of the guns recovered from these drug wars have been coming from the US. He also admitted that the demand for drugs in the US is what helped these cartels flourish. However, with recent reports and results, Mexico authorities certainly deserve a pat on the back for initiating the struggle for peace.

You can join Puerto Vallarta’s International Friendship Club on April 22nd from 10 am to 12 pm. The General Counsel for Tropicasa Real Estate Maria O’Conner is scheduled to give a lecture on “Capital Gains Tax as it relates to the sale of real estate in Mexico; payments, partial exemptions and total exemptions.” She has worked for Robles, Lazo y Gallardo, S.C and in-house attorney for the construction and development division of the Playa Del Sol Group. As a local resident and attorney of Puerto Vallarta, she strongly feels that it is important that tax authorities give clear and concise information about the payment of taxes, so that no one is left confused. The tax authority should also brief residents about the exemptions that are available and if there are no exemptions then they should give details about the methods that can help reduce the tax. Maria feels there is a dire need to lecture people about the ways in which residents can save themselves from paying such high taxes.

All of us know about Jimmy James, the star who performed all throughout Semana Santa at Club Manana. Jimmy James, a known celebrity managed to cheer the crowds in a number of performances. His famous hits are Jamestown and Fashionista. His voice impersonations have made him popular everywhere as he seems to have the talent to impersonate any singer. With a Texas upbringing he started out doing drag, which scared his conservative catholic parents in the beginning. His performances are sexually ambiguous compared to other performers who blur the lines of sexual identity. He is able to do well because he himself is androgynous. Madonna’s fan has done much to get till here. Now he is moving back to Los Angeles where he to plans to lead show business the way he intended.

This is the week of color and excitement for Puerto Vallarta. Many residents and those here for a vacation are busy deciding which day to attend on the International Fireworks Arts Symposium. Be sure you take your best camera and a tripod to capture these beautiful moments. If you have an eye for beauty, then this might be your lucky day. Stay safe and have a good time.
