How the Trivia Game Works
There are no real guidelines to the proverbial trivia game. Some formats are handled exceptionally simplistically. Think of a quiz show format, with answers instead of questions and with contestants having to buzz in before they are permitted to speak. Other formats might be more regulated, resembling the popular board game Trivial Pursuit. Some trivia fun and games could introduce new guidelines altogether, based on the team manager's personal (and hopefully strategic) preferences. A note of caution: be careful not to make any trivia game too intricate. When you lose the simplicity of a game, you begin to lose the audience.

What will be the theme of your trivia game? You may be selecting the exercise as a team building or ice breaker activity, not necessarily related to work. In this case you could concentrate on such popular general topics as entertainment, sports, history or geography. More career minded players may appreciate special categories however, like science, mathematics, computer science or vocabulary and literature. One exceptionally impressive feat would be to work in trivia questions directly related to your industry, for example, a football team would be thrilled to answer sports trivia question, whereas a team of entrepreneurs would appreciate trivia questions related to their company and business theory and history.

Some Notes On Planning Trivia Games
One important aspect to remember about trivia fun and games is the logistical side of the exercise. Remember to bring loads of trivia questions and answers and to decide upon a simple set of guidelines. Instructions must be read to the team members with a pause to make sure everyone understands how the game operated. If you plan to include prizes then ensure to bring them to the activity and store them in a convenient location. Expect problems that might come up during game play. Such as if you plan on utilising a buzzer system, how will you determine who responds first? Will you choose from several hands or is there another way to determine speed?

Try rotating the game so that everyone gets to play, along with more shy players. A rotational system might work best, since it allows players to compete against each other at a more relaxed rate, rather than several people battling it out at once.

The most important point to note is that all fun and games must be related to team building. Even if the topic matter isn't work related, there must be a beneficial aspect of team building being demonstrated and you as the educator must be explaining the justification for this gaming exercise. Trivia fun and games are a fun and productive way to lighten up the office.
