Motivation makes the world go round because whoever created the idea of money had to be motivated to do so. So how can you as a manager engage your staff to get energised about the prospects ahead?
Becoming a Motivational Speaker
It may not be in your job description to be a motivational orator, but as a manager then you will have to communicate motivation to your workers. First determine what the mutual objective is and indeed, why everyone has been brought together. Determine what your workers need out of this experience, and the reason they joined in the first place. Knowing their primary motivation, you can now work with that and produce a common objective based on that desire. Being a motivational speaker is related to selling, you are selling an idea, a belief, a principle to a person. This involves some talking and persuasion, but more significantly, it involves knowing your audience and what it's they need. Motivating people to reach a objective starts with understanding their internal wants and needs.
After designing a objective based on your team's internal motivations, it's now time to reinforce these intentions, particularly when you are just starting to build a team. You must find common ground with your group’s and gradually see each member's abilities, strengths and weaknesses. Start with your mutual intentions and expand upon those intentions, taking the time needed to work with each member. Purpose that you set must be exceedingly clear, easy to explain and to illustrate. Simplicity is one of the most important factors in advertising, and the same is true in any kind of human communication. People can get confused easily for many different reasons, so when communicating a person's motivation it's important that you keep the team's intentions simple and understandable.
Prepare to Motivate
While it's easy to create a objective, sometimes explaining a simple lesson to a group of people can be tough. Therefore prior preparation is important when you are planning a team building event. You must give careful attention to what you are going to say and to the activities you are going to introduce as part of the team building education.
A great team builder is aware of the possibility that participants and speakers can go off on a tangent and can plan for this unknown element. He or she must be able to take a discussion, even a fun one involving team building games, back to the original point from practically any direction. This would be tough to do on the spot, but if you plan in advance and expect what might happen and even imagining from the perspective of your team then you can handle anything that comes up.
Motivating your team will be easy if you take the time to learn about your colleagues and to communicate something worthwhile.
