These fun and games are normally intellectual and motivational, which make them ideal for employee development as well as for children, if the events are simplified. Games are relevant for light team events as well as sincere business. It helps members learn things from a different point of view and utilise a different type of thinking.

What fun and games are Appropriate?
Before you determine what your game is, determine if the material is relevant to your team building event. Games must be appropriate not only for the situation but also for the workers personally. If you're managing a working team then the material must be work related in some way. This does not mean that the game has to be two hours of business lecturing; it can be fun, but in a practical way. Employees must enjoy the event, enjoy the experience of interacting with each other and always learn something from the event that they didn't know before}}. Team building games aren't meant to merely distract workers from the importance of their job, but to enhance their performance. Team building games must also adhere to all laws regarding equality and discrimination in the workplace. No team member must feel slighted due to age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion or physical disability.

Tips on developing Team Building Games
Many tasks used in team building events aren't actually tasks with rigid guidelines, but a compilation of unique game ideas, named something simple, and with a set of instructions dictated by the trainer for a specific goal. There are a few tasks named for the simple exercise of having a person visualise their ideal pinnacle of success, if limitations were not a factor.

Some tasks (like Superhero or Fantasti-Cat for youngsters) gives the person super powers and allows them to speak freely, revealing what they would do with these strengths or what powers they would have. Activities for adults (such as Obituaries or Celebrity Role Playing) provide players more or less a similar scenario, only adapting it for a more realistic level. Still the basic premise of the task remains the same. Challenge the individual with a scenario in which they envisions what more he or she could do if circumstances permitted it.

Since most of these team building tasks are compromised products anyway, do not concentrate on whether you're playing the newly invented game correctly. Concentrate instead on the learning aspect. You may even consider changing any guidelines that conflict with the lesson you're trying to teach. Utilise your imagination for ideas on developing games—in fact, it is best to do away with any surreal aspect of the game and instead make the game applicable to the team's industry. If you wish to make a quiz task, then make the guidelines less like a quiz show but more like your office's guidelines. If you're planning on a game that emphasises team work, bendthe rules so you can challenge your team and come up with the desired effect.

It's not the game that ultimately matters, but what results your team takes home with them.
