In the modern age, the partnership of man and machine has helped in improving the quality of life for every person on the planet. Machines can do a lot, but they can’t do everything. Most functions still require human flexibility and adaptability. And sometimes machines are used to enhance the human power. Take machine jacks for example. Using it a normal human being can lift something many times his weight without spending much energy.

There are a variety of machine jacks available to suit different needs, for example a toe jack is used to lift machines from the side, it has a toe like projection that can be slipped under the machinery, and then using a lever that’s moves by hand, or my leg, the machine can be lifted from the side.

Machine jacks work on the pulley principle. It’s A mechanical device which concentrates and amplifies the energy exerted to lift amount of weights that would be impossible to move by a human being. Different jacks are built with different capabilities and support different amounts of weight. For example a toe jack is available for weights ranging from one ton to 100 ton, or even more.

The strength and thickness of the material used to make the jack, and the size of the pulley decides how much weight a toe jack can lift. Never try to use machine jacks made for lighter weights with heavier ones. They can snap or break and can cause a potential life-threatening situation.

Machine jacks that lift heavy burdens are often hydraulic. Hydraulic machinery uses the oil compression to greatly multiply the power produced by the human. A hydraulic toe jack can lift such a heavy weight that you would be surprised that it can actually be lifted by just a single person.

Without machine jacks it would be near about impossible to run a factory. Whether you need to service a faulty machine, or to move heavy equipment around, jacks are vital. It’s fascinating how such small piece of equipment can lift such enormous weights.

There are a number of designs in machine jacks. In fact each manufacturer will have a design that slightly varies from the others. Many have included special features and tools that add value to the basic function. For example, a hydraulic toe jack might have a button release that makes dropping the jack as easy as pressing a button.

An important thing that you must remember while buying machine jacks, is to make sure that the quality of the jack you buy is good and it’s from a reputed company. A bad quality jack is a dangerous thing and can cause an accident. For example, if the toe of the toe jack is made of inferior quality steel, then it may not be able to take the load of the machinery, and over time it may become weaker and even break.

When you go the store to buy a machine jacks, ask the salesman which would be a good quality jack. It is worth spending every extra penny on good quality equipment because you will be depending on it. Nobody wants to lose a toe because the toe jack didn’t work!
