There are a lot of decisions to make when you’re building a home, and believe me, it’s a really big job. Many families have spent hours discussing what color should be the kitchen wall without reaching a consensus. The options available are often mind-boggling and choosing one over the other is really tough. Luckily, selecting the right driveway block paving is not such a hard job. You must remember some basic factors and go for the right paving.

a) Traction – Believe it or not, that’s the most important thing your driveway needs. Good traction ensures that your tyres hold on to the driveway even in adverse conditions like rain, or snow. If there’s low traction you can potentially drive right on to your garage wall, or skid. That’s why your driveway must have block paving that has gaps between the blocks. The tiny gaps may your driveway harder to clean, but they make it safer to drive.

Even if you’re going to lay the paving in your patio or garden, you must still take care of traction. Your family will be walking about in the patio, and if the rain makes the floor slick, people could fall and potentially injure themselves. That’s why the right paving should always enough traction for your driveway.

b) Durability – The importance of durability can’t be emphasized more. Without durable material, weathering will quickly cause erosion and you will end up shelling out a lot of money on maintenance. If you buy your material from a professional source, you’ll definitely get good quality material so make sure you’re purchasing from the right people. After all, if a driveway has block paving breaking here and there, it’ll look right out of a horror movie, or as if you’ve got an antique home.

c) Ease of laying – There are a number of patterns that you can select from, right from simple rectangular blocks, to blocks that are shaped like a triangle and even a pentagon. If you’re going to hire specialists to lay the blocks paving for you, you can select almost any design, but if you’re going to lay them yourselves, it might be better to go for a basic block paving design for your driveway that’s easier to lay unless you’re skilled.

d) Shading – This largely depends on your taste and the look of your house. Select something that goes with the complete look of your house. If your house has a modern design, it doesn’t make sense going for an old-castle style block paving. Conversely if you’ve selected a more classic design, modern paving would look weird around in the driveway.

Select the shade after asking your family members for suggestions. Find one that everyone in your family agrees upon, so that everyone will like the work when it’s done. These days the paving blocks are available in slightly varying shades to make the driveway look distinctive. You don’t need to worry about this variance too much, because weathering will change the color of the paving anyway.
