Hair loss and thinning hair is a problem that is faced by thousands of people worldwide. There has over the years been many forms of treatment that have been developed to lessen the prevalence of hair loss and thinning and replace hair that has been lost. Many different people and organisations have invested time and resources into tackling the problem of hair loss and as a result modern day techniques have become extremely sophisticated and further to this techniques have been developed that have achieved success well beyond the levels of success that were being achieved a hundred years ago.

One of the techniques that has become increasingly popular and has become a great option in recent years is hair restoration surgery. This type of surgery is equally successful with female sufferers of hair loss as it is with male suffers of hair loss and has become a viable option for many people. In the past the techniques used for hair replacement were quite rudimentary and many of the results were unsatisfactory.

Modern techniques are getting much closer to the results that are expected from the procedure. These results are getting much closer to the natural look and many people that have this type of surgery are thrilled with the results that they get from their surgeon.
The hair replacement surgery is a relatively new procedure and developed in the 1950s in America. The techniques that were used in these early days were extremely raw. In many cases large patches of hair were transplanted in a surgical procedure. This was mostly done for victims of burns and often the surgery dealt with putting hair into a place such as the eyebrows.

These surgical techniques were effective in that they managed to transplant patches of hair but the results rarely looked natural. This lead to a great deal of criticism from some people that had expected more.

Modern surgery is so advanced from these early experiments that many people have claimed that their hairdresser has not even noticed that the surgery has been performed. This is a great source of hope for people that are fed up of being bald and want to regain hair in places that it has been lost.

The main point to note when discussing hair loss replacement techniques that the surgical procedures do not offer a solution that enables new hair to grow on a bald patch instead it deals with replacing hairs that have grown well onto patches of bald skin.

This means that the person that wants the surgery must have hair growing on some areas of the head that can be replaced elsewhere. This means that hair replacement surgery can be offered on all parts of the body. This means that people that suffer hair loss on their face or in pubic areas can have hair replaced.

The more natural results are achieved by surgeons that can transplant smaller hair grafts. This means that the surgeons that are capable of extracting smaller clumps of hair to replace them achieve better results for the clients. Whilst old techniques were used that involved the removal of strips of hair that were later replaced in bald areas of the head modern techniques are precise enough to pick out follicles in groups of 3 to 6 hairs. This means that the hair will look much more natural than older techniques.
