You are walking down the store aisle trying to find a gift for the guy who rubs your hair every time he sees you, no matter what your age. When you visit, he is elderly man that sits in the living room reading the pape, while you talk to grandma. So what do you buy him? You want to make sure you get the right gift.

Dad is difficult to buy for but your grandfather can be down right impossible. How do you find out what he wants? How do you figure out that perfect gift?

Step one is to spend time with him. By spending time with him, you will begin to learn about his hobbies and his interests, which will prove invaluable when you are out buying a gift for him.

If your grandfather enjoys fishing, don't go out and get him the best rod, he probably has it. Instead, go out and buy him a special fishing trip to a remote part of the world, someplace he has never been. When buying for your grandfather, always think outside the box and go the extra mile.

Hobbies will be big for your grandfather and they can be diverse as stamp collecting, dog racing and building models. Find out what his is, and find him something he would never think to buy himself for his hobby.

Other ideas for your grandfather include coupons for yard work or time spent together. Maybe you can help your grandfather around the house or offer to take him out to his favorite restaurant for a special birthday dinner.

You might Look into your grandfather's past and maybe try to reunite him with a friend he has lost touch with. Maybe you could put together a special scrapbook that portrays his parents, brothers, sisters and early years in school or other places.

Grandfathers often like to read, so find him a book he wants to read or find a special rare copy of his favorite novel. He won't read it, but it may become a prized piece of his library.

Generally try and avoid any gadgets or devices that your grandfather has no use for. That will do nothing but waste your money.

Buying for grandparents can be difficult, but if you take the time to really think about it and do some searching, you can get a gift that will make him very happy. Go the extra mile and put everything you have into finding it. It will be totally be worth it.
