Designer clothing - it's something that all of us want to wear, and even love to wear. Most of us don't even really know non-designer styles, because we're so used to wearing the designer clothes that we love.

Many new parents (or parents who've been around the block a few times) are faced with a choice when they have children. Drape those that they love the most in expensive designer clothing, or go the less stylish but more affordable way of not buying the top designers children's clothing.

It's a hard decision, and your knee jerk reaction probably is to buy designer clothes for children. It stems from wanting the best for your children, or the children of your friends. And that's not a bad thing!

So, what are the pros - and cons - of buying designer clothes for children?

The Pros

The upsides of buying children's designer clothing is pretty simple, and straight forward - basically, you get to dress the children you care about in the clothing that they 'deserve' - the finest.

Not only do your friends notice and envy that your children are able to get good quality clothing, but your children are dressed well, and you know it. There's no question that what they're wearing is something very respectable.

There's also just the matter of them looking well. Your children are dressed well, without a doubt. What more could a parent need, at least in that department?

The Cons

A big con for many parents is the price of designer clothes for children. With the rising price of gas, and the always high expenses of diapers, bottles, formula, toys, and more, spending a great deal of money on their children's clothing, isn't something high on their list.

You also have to realize that children grow fast. Very fast - any parent will tell you that. Buying oodles of designer names will mean nothing when they don't wear half of it by the time that they grow out of it.

The final con is something that's the turning point for many parents. Their children simply don't know the difference between a designer brand, and a brand you might not buy often.

They simply don't realize, or care, what brand of clothing they're wearing, or how much it cost. They would much rather get your love, and attention, than a brand name of clothing.

The Bottom Line?

Is it worth it to buy designer clothes for children? Well, it really depends. Not on your children, or the clothing, but on you. If you want your children to wear designer clothing, then you can. But know that they're not really particular either way.
