Flying any RC airplane is fun. This is one of the most thrilling hobbies adopted today both by young and old alike. But, it will be interesting to know that flying RC helicopters is even more fun than flying other model planes. Beginners love RC helicopters and so too the experts because they make you involved more than other planes. You have more controls to perform unlike other planes, where you find them fly and land as normal exercise. Those who are diehard model airplane hobbyist have discovered, why it's fun to fly RC helicopters and have no regrets flying them with no breaks in between, just to have more thrills. Today, these copters are not only maintained as a mere hobby but they are also used for professional activities like aerial photography, filming, remote surveillance and observation and so on.

RC helicopters are made of carbon fiber, aluminum, foam, fiberglass and balsa wood. Remote controlled helicopters are operated in the same way as the RC airplanes, only their maneuvers are more complicated and the copters can make great aerobatic moves midair. But, even if they seem thrilling, the RC helicopters are tougher to control than airplanes because of their controls. Their radio control device mostly comes in 6 channels and this calls for great concentration to avoid errors. Since the RC helicopters are more expensive than normal model planes and have these channels, there should be no room for error or this will result in greater losses in case they crash.

The radio control of RC models is more complicated than the other planes. The radio gear consists normally of 4 or 6 channel system and comes at a high cost. However, if you really don't need such expensive gear, you can settle for a basic one like JR 6102 heli set, which is especially good for beginners. The pilot holds the radio gear with his hands and sends signals to the receiver that is built in the helicopter. The signals are programmed to bring certain effects, depending on the pilot who 'directs' the helicopter by using the radio device.

There are various models of RC helicopter that you many think of buying, depending on your experience and likes. While selecting the model helicopters to start with, you should go for the ones, which are built with fewer controls. A good model to start with is the Mosquito Basic. This model is an ARF type, which does not require much effort to assemble. It also comes with its own unique radio control. It is advisable to stick to this model, since you are inexperienced. You can use this 4-channel radio control system, since it is compatible and much fun to use. You can also opt for the Hurricane 550, which is a popular ARF RC helicopter. They are various other models, you can choose from. But, it is best to ask about their controls, to know, which one will suit you the best
