The Christmas tree has long been the focal point in the family home and its decoration is traditional for many with results that are diverse and a unique expression of creativity and flair, whether the items hanging from its brances are home-made or shop-bought. As it approaches the time to start thinking about the festive period and all the things that go with it, people find themselves in a dilemma - an artificial or a real tree this year? If you have concerns over how cutting down fir trees affects the environment and artificial trees get thrown into landfills then read on for the pros and cons.

Opting for an artificial tree you have the use of it over a period of several years until it starts to look worn, and these days there are recyclable options available. However, there is nothing like a real tree which looks good and smells divine, but can you justify a tree being cut down every year just so you have a lovely centrepiece in the home?

Artificial trees are a lot more practical than the real thing and people choose them as they are easy to put up and pack away, and they don't leave any mess. Some of the fake ones manufactured these days are quite life-like and once the decorations are added with a quick spray of pine around the room hardly anyone will be able to tell the difference. Artificial options come in a variety of sizes and colours so whatever the size of your home or colour preference you're sure to find something to suit the surroundings. Some even have fibre optics incorporated into the design for that extra sparkle effect!

There is no after care required with artificial trees once they have been erected, you don't have to spend time trying to get needle pines out of the carpet and as they're manufactured from durable materials you can enjoy their beauty for many yuletide celebrations to come.

Real trees have their issues, for a start they tend to drop needles once they begin to dry out which is why it's important to ensure they're watered on a regular basis. Every year you have to think about where to buy from and how much it's going to cost, then after the festivities are over how you'll dispose of it.

Why a real Christmas tree? Well, the advantages of a real tree far outweighs the disadvantages. First of all, if you're worried about the environment then you'll be happy to learn that real fir trees offer important green benefits for the surroundings from carbon dioxide absorption to recycling resources. It can take anywhere between 8 to 12 years before a real tree is ready to be harvested, and as they absorb the carbon dioxide producd by modern industries they effectively clean up the atmosphere.

Furthermore, tree farms are often located in areas that would be otherwise barren but as firs are so enduring they have the capacity to grow practically anywhere. Also for every one cut down most farms plant another 2 or 3 in its place, they have a real responsibility towards maintaining, protecting, and increasing the tree population. Real trees can also be recycled once the holidays are over, ground into mulch they decompose providing nutrients to plant roots and other flora.

There are a variety of Christmas tree types available, the Fraser Fir has a distinctive pyramid shape and strong branches, ideal for the smaller house or where space is at a premium, and the Nordman Fir is a beautiful symmetrical shape with strong, layered branches allowing for easy display of christmas decorations, attractive shiny dark green needles and good needle retention.

Save time and fuel costs by ordering real Christmas trees online and have it delivered to your front door just in time for Santa Claus and the family and friends to enjoy its beauty and fragrance.
