Russia is commonly thought of as the land of tsars and snow. The combination between the two and the Orthodox churches make Russia seem the perfect traditional paradise of simplicity and wholeness. However, Russia has evolved so much, yet not under the eyes of the West, but on its' own pace and in its' own way. Nowadays, Russia has become an industrial giant, but has also developed numerous touristic attractions and possibilities. In the same time, the Motherland has kept intact and even upgraded the educational system that was so famous and even copied in the Cold War era. Therefore, there are many reasons why a person would want to visit Russia or live in this vast country that offers so many options to study and work.

However, most citizens of the world would need a Russian visa in order to enter the perimeter of this country. The lucky exceptions are the nationals of the former USSR states, such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldavia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. There are 11 cases which you are eligible for a Russia visa. For each case and circumstance, a type of Russian visa can be offered by the Russian authorities. These types are the tourism visa, work visa, business or commercial visit visa, student visa, guest or private visit visa, diplomatic visa, government business visa, transit visa which expires after 72 hours, temporary stay visa or refugee visa.

The tourism Russian visa is one of the two most popular and asked for visas. It is available for people who intend to stay less than 30 days on Russian territory. Pay attention to the expiry date, as 30 days do not equal one month, due to the fact that a month can have 31 days. Anyone can get a tourism Russia visa with help from a travel agency or hotel which have to be registered with the Department of Consular Service at Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The hotel or travel agency must provide an official invitation letter or a sponsorship letter.

A business Russian visa offers more flexibility to the traveler. As opposed to the tourism Russia visa, a business visa expires after an entire year and it provides the holder with multiple entry possibilities. A business Russian visa is perfect for business men and women who conduct affairs several companies in the Motherland. This is particularly important as Russia has become one of the countries with the most diverse and efficient outsourcing companies offer. Also, for those who have to negotiate or sign contracts, but also for the people who like to take part in auctions and exhibitions, getting a business Russian visa is the perfect way to do so. Nevertheless, a business Russia visa is not the equivalent of a work permit, so make sure you have all your paperwork sorted out.

Nowadays, you can get a Russian visa from the embassy or consulate or, in an even simpler manner, online. Just make sure you have a valid passport and an invitation ready and there is nothing stopping you from getting the Russia visa of your dreams!
