Are Gun Laws Restrictive?

While guns may be exciting and challenging, the accidents and crimes involving them are awfully dangerous and, unfortunately, occurring more and more often. Regarding this matter, gun laws have been created and instituted so as to prevent those who are in no way fit to carry guns from buying them. This is a complex and delicate issue because the gun laws need to protect both the right to self-defense as well as guarantee the innocent protection from those unfit to use guns. Moreover, hunting guns are also involved in an alarming number of unfortunate accidents, which can only mean that the gun laws already in place need to be updated and perfected.

Probably the most burning issue concerning safety matters is whether or not citizens are to be allowed to concealed carry guns. Regulations are different in every state. Some states allow concealed carry, while others not. Also, there are special venues and locations where the gun laws prohibit bringing weapons in, such as school and student campuses, sport stadiums, government and federal buildings. In the United States, getting a Federal Firearms License is the best way to protect your rights as a guns owner. The license is meant to protect all parties involved by making the guns interested person take a series of tests to prove he or she is fit to handle one. By proving yourself trustworthy and dependable, you give the state a proof that you are not going to use the guns that you concealed carry to induce panic or injure someone, including yourself.

Another difficult to settle problem is the issue of automatic guns. While many would agree that they need to be prohibited by the gun laws and cite the Second Amendment, the statistics show that most of the incidents in which guns are involved happen to standard handguns possessors. Currently, the automatic guns are illegal and the guns dealers are also banned from selling them, even though the background checks and the purchase permits for the potential buyer may turn out to be fine.

There are many statistics that usually contradict the general perception that an easier to obtain guns license makes crime rates rise. For example, there has been no proven link between the period of waiting to get guns license or purchase permits and the homicide or suicide rates. Moreover, many countries in Europe have very permissive gun laws for every honest and no-record citizen while granting easy concealed carry guns access in the same time and they still maintain low crime rates.

In some states of the US you can apply for concealed carry through the chief of the local police after graduating from a safety course and getting your fingerprints in the FBI database. To sum things up, the safest way to handle guns is by following the gun laws, even for the concealed carry ones. Even after getting a guns permit, you are still subjected to many restrictions under the current gun laws. It is never a good idea to try to bend the gun laws or break them, so take your time to study the gun laws and regulations, especially when thinking about a concealed carry firearm.
