One of the main reasons why elearning has had a slow growth in the past is the lack of research within the field. The industry of elearning has been acknowledge as a modern science branch of pedagogy and has been accepted by scientific community. The study of various elearning management systems has been studied through a number of both methodological and theoretical conventions which range from education, psychology, and communications to computer science, informatics and as well as media design. As one may have noticed, these learning sciences are interdisciplinary and may as well branch out to each other at some point in their studies. So to make it clear for any beginner, one must first determine the goals of virtual learning.

Virtual Learning Objectives
Why should elearning be studied? The goals of the online learning theory and practice are relatively direct and very concise: produce and evaluate innovations to lead the users into comfortably absorb knowledge from it. More particularly, the specific objectives of virtual learning can be classified into four: produce theories to explain the processes undertaken in electronic learning, create tools and software applicable to the said theories, understand the different materials, tasks, curricula, discussion resources and other non-technical elements of the elearning environment and, lastly, put an integrated module with an effective design model that allows improvement of the learning interventions.

Hypotheses
Electronic learning theories may overlap or interject with other categories of theories used in other sciences. For example, a theory in psychology can explain how various people can learn generally and how interfaces can alter their individual behavior in the online course. This is understandable since such modern science is the offspring of different general sciences. The purpose of such is to know which perspective works best in different situations. The more general the theory, the more applicable the electronic learning tool that can be produced from it.

Gadgets
After such adaptable learning theory is produced, the next thing to do is to integrate the theory into practice or, in this case, into machinery. The research will help produce general tools such as metadata specification, server software, interface design and other authoring programs that can be used as practical applications in a learning management system. The reason that many applications need time to upgrade is because the developers can not simply just add new applications or add new ones since both cyber learning theories and as well as business and marketing strategies need to be applied first. One area of elearning research is dedicated to gadgetry so as to hasten this kind of slow progress.

Modules and Designs
Perhaps the most difficult as well as the most common area of online learning research is the form of module and designs. This area of study borrows largely from the education and psychology theories and is thus common. The challenge in this is to create new theories outside the old ones which should be adaptable to the various aspects of the e-courses. This theory of study is often mixed with the first three studies because of its already crowded knowledge of the human brain and how it learns. The only way to go further in this state is to combine all of the other theories learned in the different aspects.
