Remote access and remote desktop software allow computer users to contact and control computers located one foot or one thousand miles away. The only requirement for those interested in using remote access or remote desktop software was to have two computers with internet connections and a copy of the remote desktop software installed on each one of them. Nowadays, with the constant advances made to internet related technologies, users can use remote access software that is based online, thus removing the need for any program installations.

Although anyone with minimal knowledge from the field of remote access knows that remote desktop software and other similar software applications are useful to project managers, technical support, and more, this article is meant to present you with a whole new functionality for remote access software, and more precisely the importance of using remote desktop and remote access software for online training services.

Online training is not a new concept by any means, and has been around since internet related technologies became capable to sustain this type of services, many years ago. The only problem with online training services in their previous form, was that they did not allow for a great degree of interactivity. Students participating in online training sessions could only make contributions through regular chat or voice chat, thus gravely limiting the potential of online training as a service. The changes that remote desktop and remote access software applications brought to the field of online training lie in a highly increased capability for interactivity.

Remote access and remote desktop software is the perfect addition to the software applications used by online training providers as it allows all participants in online training courses easily share documents and files. Instead of e-mailing files or sharing though FTP’s, which would take a long time, the files in question can be reviewed and modified by all participants in real time, this allowing for a significantly lower time reserved for this type of actions. Another great feature that is present with remote desktop software today, and one that has proven to be extremely beneficial to the field of online training, is group editing.

This allows all the students enrolled in an online training course to access one or more files located on one of their peers’ computer. This allows companies which separate their students in groups for the creation of various projects, to present their students with the possibility to make changes and edits to their group projects without having to send the files from one student to another after each little chance has been done. It suffices to say that online training services are amongst the primary beneficiaries of remote desktop software, not only because of the time saved but also from the stand point of efficiency. Although traditionally, remote access software has been used for online training purposes only by large companies for their in house training, we are now witness to a wave of new companies which apply these principles to regular online training.
